As reported yesterday, the speed limit on a stretch of Highway 406 is going up to 110 km/h this summer.
OPP Highway Safety Division Sergeant Kerry Schmidt says even though the limit is higher, police will still be searching for speedsters.
Schmidt adds that there was not an increase in crashes on the QEW when its speed limit raised to 110 in 2019.
The highway’s limit will increase this summer between Thorold and Welland, a 13-kilometre stretch to end the highway. The rest of the 406 will remain a 100 km/h zone, with the exception of St. Catharines, which has a posted speed limit of 80 km/h.
Also seeing speed increases across Ontario is stretches of Highways 401 and 403, as well as Highway 69 in Sudbury.
