Two additional beluga whales have passed away at Marineland, bringing the total to sixteen beluga whales and one killer whale since 2019.
The Niagara Falls park notified the Ministry of the Solicitor General of the deaths this month.
However, the cause of death for the two whales was not disclosed by the province.
Ontario’s Animal Welfare Service has been conducting an investigation into the park since 2020.
Marineland has stated that the whales died from stomach torsion and emphasized that all whales at the park receive daily care.
