The Ford government plans to build a GO Station in Grimsby – a project that’s been top of mind for many in the Niagara Region for years.
The announcement came this morning from Minister of Transportation Prabmeet Sarkaria.
MPP Oosterhoff says that request for proposal will help get the project rolling, with a contract to be awarded awarded in the spring.
Earlier this month, Ontario NDP Leader Marit Stiles held a press conference at the site of the proposed GO station in Grimsby, questioning why the project hasn’t been completed yet.
Last spring, the Ontario government announced the largest GO service expansion in more than a decade, adding more than 300 weekly train trips. In 2024, almost 524,000 customers travelled through St. Catherines and Niagara Falls GO and VIA stations, according to a government release.
