An educational assistant at a Welland school has been charged with sexual assault.
Niagara Regional Police say investigation started in June after allegations of a three month relationship between an EA and a 14-year-old male that happened at St. Mary Catholic School.
As a result, 48-year-old Tracy Coleman of Port Colborne has been charged with sexual assault and sexual interference. Detectives urge anyone with any information to reach out, as they believe there may be more victims.
Niagara Catholic District School Board also released a statement on the arrest, calling it shocking and deeply troubling.
Coleman has been placed on administrative leave by NCDSB, while the board says it will fully cooperate with NRPS during their investigation.
The principal at St. Mary Catholic Elementary School reached out to his staff, parents and guardians over the weekend, which included supports for anyone who may need it.
