A Niagara Regional Police officer has been cleared of any wrongdoing by the Special Investigations Unit in connection to an October incident.
On October 25, 2024, witnesses say a man had been acting erratically, swinging a cane, and damaging a vehicle.
Officers later found him at his apartment, where he initially let them in but became aggressive when they suggested a hospital visit.
As he moved toward the balcony, an officer tackled him to prevent self-harm, before he was taken to hospital where he was diagnosed with a fractured vertebra and admitted for psychiatric care.
