If there’s one thing the Niagara Region doesn’t lack, it’s a charitable spirit. However, there’s lots of people that want to give back and make donations, but don’t know where they want to show their support.
That’s where Bryan Rose and the Niagara Community Foundation come into play. Rose has a long history in the fundraising and philanthropy sector, having worked with Ridley College and Mohawk College in the past, both in fundraising-adjacent positions.
Now almost 9 years into his tenure with NCF, he says working with donors and other charitable organizations is completely different than when he was at an institution. When at Ridley or Mohawk, he says his job was finding funding for the school, whereas NCF helps distribute those funds to other organizations in the Niagara Region. He says there is no shortage of generosity in the region, adding that residents are proud and prideful to be from this area. This, according to Rose, results in more people wanting to give back.
However, he says because of economic times, there’s less people than before that are able to give back. He says while the dollar amount stays the same, the number of donors has gone down in recent years.
