An inspiring evening of live music is coming up this Saturday at the Niagara Sunflower Festival for Ukrainian Relief.
We spoke with one of the organizers, Joe Hube, who explains how the event has grown over the years.
Hube also details why the sunflower is so significant to this event.
This year alone, Hube and his group have raised well over $20,000 for Ukrainian relief efforts. He says they work with BCU Financial to make sure the money gets to the right place.
It’s being held Saturday at Villa Romana Estate Winery with Two Families Band and Nezivitsu, two Ukrainian musical acts famous in the Ukrainian community in Southern Ontario.
Since relocating to Canada, Two Families Band has given a number of solo concerts and taken part in some major events including the Niagara Jazz Festival, Dundas Cactus Festival and the Toronto Ukrainian Festival. Nezisvitu is a Ukrainian acoustic band that combines traditional and modern elements to create a unique sound that is both nostalgic and contemporary.
Tickets are available on Eventbrite.
