The 500th win in IceDogs history would be a 4-3 Sunday afternoon Meridian Centre victory over the Brantford Bulldogs.
Sean Doherty notched his 4th, with help from Kevin He at 12:16 of period one. The Bulldogs evened the score on the power-play but that tie lasted just 22 seconds. Braidy Wassilyn’s 4th at 14:47 featured assists from Jack Brauti and Captain He. Alex Assadourian 6th of the year and second in as many games, returning from injury, made it 3-1 after the first. Andrew Wysick and Noah Van Vliet chipped in assists.
Brantford snuck a goal closer in the middle period, before Blake Arrowsmith hit for his first in IceDogs colors at 16:05 as Ryan Roobroeck picked up a point.
A late, Bulldogs power-play, empty net goal closed out the scoring as Ben Boudreau’s squad made it a perfect weekend. The win, is the IceDogs’s 17th of the season. Owen Flores was, well, Owen Flores once again. The big goaltender made 43 stops for his 14th win of the season.
While the Cirque Du Soleil takes over the Meridian Center, the Dogs will embark on their Cirque du Snowbelt, with a visit to North Bay Thursday night. The first of 7 road games gets underway with the New Country 89.1 pre-game at 6:45.
