Mikayla Guarasci (left) & Hallie Trickett (right) are both travelling from Niagara to Toronto for Taylor Swift concerts.
Over the next two weekends, Taylor Swift fans from far and wide will embark on Toronto to catch the music sensation’s Eras Tour – including many travelling from the Niagara Region.
Swift is playing six shows at the Rogers Centre, with roughly 300,000 tickets available combined between all six shows, while the stadium itself has been transformed for the occasion.
One of those residents going to a show this week is Mikayla Guarasci, who will be travelling from Welland.
Guarasci, who attends Boston University but is visiting her family in the Rose City, has already seen The Eras Tour twice in Pittsburgh, and says her excitement level this time around is a bit different.
When it comes to getting from Welland to Toronto – she says she’ll be taking the train. She previously drove in to see Swift in Toronto during her 1989 tour, and says she learned her lesson.
While Guarasci doesn’t plan on staying in Toronto long, she notes that it’s wonderful to see how many extra-curricular events are happening in the city for the tour, which has three shows this weekend and three shows next weekend.
Port Colborne’s Hallie Trickett is attending one of the shows next weekend, also her third time seeing The Eras Tour after seeing Swift perform in both Nashville and Detroit.
She started listening to Taylor Swift when she was 12 years old, and bugged her Mom to buy her Swift’s debut album after hearing ‘Teardrops on my Guitar’. She says she’s excited to see the tour a third time – and for good reason.
Trickett, much like Guarasci, isn’t planning on driving into Toronto to see the show, and is instead also planning on taking a GO Train.
While lots of ‘Swifties’ will be travelling from Niagara to Toronto for the show, there’s a couple that want her to travel to Niagara as well.
While Swift plays on Thursday, Friday and Saturday this week, she’s expected to be in Buffalo when the Kansas City Chiefs visit the Bills on Sunday, as her boyfriend Travis Kelce plays for the Chiefs.
Smithville resident Heather Gill, who recently ran in the West Lincoln bye-election, says she would love to see Swift visit the community of 5500.
Gill says she’s already got a gameplan for if Swift, and even Kelce, decide to visit.
The Niagara IceDogs are getting in on the frenzy as well, hosting a ‘Taylor Swift Eras Game’ on Sunday when they host the Brantford Bulldogs at the Meridian Centre. The game will feature a Swift-themed selfie booth and a friendship bracelet-making station.
Gill adds that she’s been recruiting support from local leaders to help get Swift to Smithville.
Niagara Falls Mayor Jim Diodati also posted on his Instagram page, inviting her to visit Niagara Falls, noting that they will roll out the red carpet if they decide to visit.
Either way, SwiftMania is running wild in Niagara, and that’s not ending anytime soon.
