People’s Party of Canada Leader Maxime Bernier will be in Welland this weekend, holding a get-together for residents to learn more about his party.
The party, which was formed six years to the day of Saturday’s event, received over 840,000 votes in the 2021 Federal election, up from roughly 294,000 in the 2019 election.
Bernier, who has been the leader since the very start, says he wanted to host an event in Niagara because of their performance in the region in 2021’s polls.
While there will be PPC supporters on hand, Bernier notes that it is open to everyone to attend. He says there’s also going to be a question & answer period for anyone that’s interested in learning more about the party and its policies.
According to the party’s website, some of the main items of their platform include ending what it calls reverse discrimination, reducing the overall immigration levels, prioritizing skilled immigrants, and cooling down an overheated housing market across Canada.
Bernier says there’s still lots of work to do when it comes to spreading word about the party, as they prepare for their third election.
Bernier adds that the party already has more than 150 candidates ready across Canada for the next election, whenever it may be. He also says he hears a lot from supporters about political issues in the United States, including censorship, which he says his party faces lots of from mainstream media, and gender ideology. When the next election is called, Bernier notes he will be able to participate in televised debates with other leaders, as the PPC met the 4% popular vote threshold to be included.
The PPC’s event will be held at Club Richelieu on River Road in Welland, and starts at 2:00pm.
