The Three Wishes Program is coming to the Niagara Region.
The program, co-founded by Dr. Deborah Cook and Dr. Robert Sheppard at St. Joseph’s Hospital in Hamilton, provides acts of compassion to end-of-life patients and their families in the ICU.
“It transforms that very dark moment into something that has some light,” says Dr. Thiago Appoloni Moreira, ICU physician and lead of the Three Wishes Project for Niagara Health. “It can be difficult to do, but if we’re able to do it, it is beautiful and rewarding.”
The Marotta Family Hospital’s Critical Care Team in St. Catharines has been working with Niagara Health Foundation to bring the project to Niagara, and is holding a fundraiser from August 26th to October 30th to do so. Community members are invited to purchase raffle tickets for a chance to win prizes, businesses can donate in-kind and provide prizes for the raffle, and members of the public can make monetary donations as well.
