Two St. Catharines men are in hot water after an investigation by Niagara Regional Police.
On July 4th, police searched a home near Ontario Street and Welland Avenue and seized two pistols and ammunition as a result.
43-year-old Michael Mills and 36-year-old William Austin were both arrested, and facing a combined 17 charges ranging from assault with a weapon to careless storage of a firearm.
Mills was charged with the following offences:
- Assault with a weapon
- Use of Firearm during Commission of an Offence
- Careless Storage of Firearm, Weapon, or Ammunition
- Carrying Concealed Weapon
- Possess Firearm without Holding a Licence
- Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm Knowingly not holding a Licence
- Unauthorized Possession of Firearm in Motor Vehicle
- Possess Loaded Regulated Firearm
- Possession of a Firearm knowing Serial Number has been Tampered with
- Possess of Firearm Weapon or Ammunition Contrary to Prohibition Order
Austin has been charged with the following offences:
- Careless Storage of a Firearm
- Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm without holding a Licence
- Possess Restricted or Prohibited Firearm knowingly not holding a Licence
- Possession of a Firearm knowing serial number has been Tampered with
- Possess Unloaded Regulated Firearm
- Unauthorized Possession of a Prohibited Device or Ammunition
- Possess Prohibited/Restricted Weapon or Prohibited Device Knowingly not holding a Licence
