Unemployment in the Niagara Region is trending in the wrong direction.
For May 2024, the unemployment rate for the St. Catharines/Niagara area is sitting at 7.9% – up from 7.7%. Meantime, up the QEW in Hamilton, the rate is 7%.
Across Canada, the national unemployment rate is sitting at 6.2%.
