Ontario is preparing to unveil new legislation aimed at imposing harsher penalties on individuals convicted of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Transportation Minister Prabmeet Sarkaria announced that the government will introduce stringent measures, including lifetime license suspensions, to enhance road safety and protect families.
Sarkaria emphasized that impaired drivers’ “careless and shameful actions” devastate the lives of Ontario families. The proposed law includes a lifetime license suspension for those convicted of impaired driving resulting in death.
