Niagara College’s innovative intergenerational project with Heidehof, a seniors care community in St. Catharines, has won a provincial industry award.
The project, called “A Senior’s Freshman Year: The Intergenerational College Experience,” involved 29 first-year Recreation Therapy students and 10 seniors living at Heidehof.
The unique experience was delivered as part of NC’s winter term through a course focusing on strategies for increasing well-being.
It aimed to foster relationships, engage in meaningful activities, and instill a sense of purpose in seniors.
