If getting in shape was one of your New Year’s Resolutions, Niagara College may be able to help.
As part of their Personal Training course curriculum, and under the supervision of college faculty, second-year students will be offering free personal fitness education and counseling, pre- and post-fitness evaluations, as well as weekly exercise programming and supervision, which would usually be about a $700 value.
Professor Michael Hart says this will help students tremendously.
Around 25 students will be taking part in the initiative in 2024, which Hart says is a great way to apply what they’ve learned in class.
The Personal Training program is open to college employees and students, as well as local community residents regardless of current fitness status, exercise goals, or previous participation in the program.
Hart adds that with so many people committing to their physical health as a New Year’s Resolution, the turnout is typically high.
Applicants must be willing to commit to attend 50-minute weekly personal training sessions at the Welland Campus from February 5 to April 15. Anyone interested in taking part can apply at the college’s website.
