The cause of a loud noise in Welland has yet to be determined.
Niagara Regional Police say just after 9 p.m. Wednesday, officers were called about a loud boom or explosion sound covering what is believed to be an almost a seven-kilometre area.
Officers attended the area of Harrison Avenue and Gladys Avenue (Lincoln Avenue / Memorial Park Drive area) and located members of the public who captured footage of a red/orange flash followed by a boom/explosion sound that occurred at 9:10pm.
Officials note while nothing has been confirmed, it was foggy and a side effect of a low weather ceiling and fog can possibly be an increased affect on loud noises like fireworks.
Anyone with information about this incident is asked to contact the investigating officers by calling 905-688-4111, option 3, extension 1023300.
