This past weekend proves why I love living in the Region. On most given weekends there is usually something worth gassing up the car for and it doesn’t necessarily have to be in the summer.
I attended Canal Days in Port Colborne on Monday afternoon to check out the entertainment, the food, the vendors and to take a sailing trip on Lake Erie on board the Empire Sandy. I have made this trip before but Monday afternoon was the first time I ever remember the crew cutting the engine and hoisting the sails. I also had the pleasure of meeting Dawn Hill and her hubby Steve ,who had won tickets from GIANT FM and they were great people to hang out with.
For the first time in 6 years I couldn’t make it out to the “Classic Rock night” on Saturday featuring the Mandevilles, Kim Mitchell and David Wilcox but from what I have seen from photo’s there wasn’t an awful lot of room to spare. The lineup was lengthy and stretched back from the venue right up the street. Those that were smart enough to get there early saw a great show while many others were let in on a “one out one in basis.” This show must have been a blast because the beer sales that evening set a new record for Canal Days; when the suds flow it’s going to be a hellava night.
Congratulations to the organizers, volunteers and of course the people for making Canal Days one festival you can never miss.
